White Lotus is Portland’s top dragon dance and lion dance team. The group aims to not only spread cultural awareness but to make every celebration is memorial one. We do exciting performances throughout Portland and the pacific northwest in celebration of Chinese new years, lunar new years, corporate events, grand openings, weddings, banquets, and more.

COVID-19 Policy

 To our community,

The health and safety of our members have always been our top priority. With Lunar New Year approaching and the demand for public performances rising, we will continue to follow CDC’s recommendations and guidelines to keep our team and volunteers safe. For us to best prepare for the LNY season, we have implemented strict policies such as masks, social distancing, and other safety precautions during our practice sessions and any team gatherings.

In addition, we are taking the following precautions with our clients and community members:

  • For any indoor events, we ask that clients and all participants wear masks or face covering during the time which we are scheduled to perform (ie: weddings, corporate events, home blessings, banquets, etc). Masks are not required but encouraged during outdoor events.

  • Please refrain from contacting/touching the performers and equipment during performances and continue to follow CDC recommendations for social distancing.

  • Any person(s) who have tested positive and/or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 within the last 2 weeks of the scheduled event is to be removed from the premises during our performance.

  • All tips & donations given to the lion dancers in traditional form (re: feeding the lion lucky money) will be assisted by our volunteers— so that we may limit the exposure potential and safety risks of the lion dancers.

We have also set guidelines for our members while at the performance/event location:

  • All White Lotus members and volunteers are required to wear masks or face coverings— for both indoor and outdoor settings.

  • Lion dancers (performers under the Lion Dance costumes) are exempt from this requirement as face masks may become choking hazards during these physically-demanding tasks.

  • All White Lotus members will continue to maintain social distancing and best practices as set by the CDC recommendations and guidelines.

  • We have the right to refuse any requests and demands from the clients and/or participants during the event if we find it imposes the health and safety our any of our members.

We are carefully monitoring the situation. The most important thing is to make sure we conduct business in a safe environment for both our members and clients. If you have specific questions not addressed here or on our website, reach out to us.

We look forward to working for you,

The White Lotus Foundation,
Board of Directors
